The debut broadcast of "Milwaukee's Talking Real Estate with Jim Geracie" took place on a cold, gray Saturday afternoon in February of 1992. The original intent of the program was to disseminate information about the Milwaukee-area housing market, and to gain an understanding of our listener ship.
For over 11 straight years every Saturday afternoon at and the following Sunday at on Radio 1130, News/Talk WISN AM, the message was broadcast and we've pursued that goal. We covered a lot of ground and I am proud of what we have done.
Issues and Interests
In the past TEN-Plus Years of broadcasting, the program has grown considerably, in listener ship, popularity, and in scope. Of course, we cover the nuts-and-bolts topics of real estate; how to buy a home, work with an agent, select a contractor, finance a purchase--it's all there and we will continue to explore these areas.
We've grown, however, into examining and discussing issues that affect not just real estate but quality of life as well. The forces and institutions that affect us daily are represented during "Milwaukee's Talking Real Estate with Jim Geracie". This includes law enforcement; municipal, state and federal leadership; the legal system, and community organizers.
Every Guest Was Special
Included in the list of guests who've joined us over the years are Milwaukee's Mayor, John O. Norquist, Rep. Scott Jensen (R-Brookfield), Waukesha County Executive Daniel Finley, Judge William Hue, and representatives from Fannie Mae, Milwaukee's police Chief Arthur Jones, and the Department of City Development.
The trade and service people that cater to the real estate industry that have met with us have provided excellent information about their work and their clients. Masons, chimney experts, builders and interior decorators, among others, have joined us repeatedly to offer tips and advice. We'll continue to feature these experts in coming shows.
